Astral Projection & How To Have An Out Of Body Experience

What is Astral Projection?

Astral projection, also known as an out of body experience, is the assumption that there is an existence of a spirit or “astral body” that can travel outside of the physical body. Many religions around the world relate astral projection to the afterlife in which the spirit or soul leaves the physical body and travels to alternate dimensions or higher realms. Out of body experiences have been reported and associated with near death experiences, dream states, meditation, loss of consciousness, and some drug experiences with substances such as ayahuasca or LSD. In many cases, the one experiencing the out of body state is able to control the dream and take themselves wherever they wish. For me, that was never the case.

My Experience With Astral Projection

I’m going to start off by saying that I don’t necessarily believe that my “out of body experience” was my spirit self leaving my physical self. Although, I do believe that there is more to what we call consciousness and more to this world that we as humans can understand. With that being said, take what you want from my experiences and what is written in this article.

When I was about six or seven years old, I experienced dreams where I would travel outside of my body and would somehow be thrown into a world that I have never seen before. The most frightening part about these dreams were how frequently they occurred and how realistic they felt. The dream would always begin with my spirit self leaving my physical body. As I spiraled up towards the ceiling, I would be looking down at my body laying comfortably in bed with a slight view of my spirit self’s hands. My hands looked no different than they did on my physical self, but they did have a transparent look to them and somewhat of a light bluish tint. As I gradually spun closer to the ceiling and neared the top, a blinding light would appear and I would find myself in another world. Although this world was foreign to me, it always felt familiar while I was in my dream state.

Each world that I was thrown into presented me with a different scenario. I have had this dream many times with many different experiences, but there is only one I remember in great detail. I was sitting in the passenger seat of my oldest brother’s truck with a fishing pole in one hand and a tackle box in the other. My brother was taking me fishing like we had been before. On the passenger side of the truck, there was a drop off to a large body of water that seemed to last forever. As I stepped out of the truck, my brother demanded that I be careful not to fall. Before he could finish his sentence, I had already stumbled over myself and was making my way to the bottom. As I fell, I remember an overwhelming feeling of emotion and felt as if my life was flashing before my eyes. I neared closer and closer to the bottom and just before I hit the body of water, I found myself spiraling back into my physical self. It was as if the beginning ascendance of my dream was reversed and accelerated. I would then reach my physical self and wake up drenched in sweat with an abnormally high heart rate and in fear that I had actually experienced the fall.

I experienced these dreams for years and finally outgrew them in my early teens. Each dream started with my body ascending towards the ceiling and would end with me falling back into my physical self. I have found no explanation for these repetitive out of body experiences and have accepted that I will likely never know why I had them in the first place.

How To Have An Out Of Body Experience

Binaural beats have been reported to help increase ones creativity, reduce the effects of insomnia, increase focus, and even potentially aid in having an out of body experience. Binaural beats can potentially put you in a state of consciousness where your mind or spirit self is completely freed. This is done by listening to certain frequency waves in each ear to make up a binaural beat. Binaural beats allow richer frequency peaks in brain activity that you would experience in a dream state or even a coma while you are fully awake and aware. Binaural beats can be found on many different online sources, in the app store, and on Google Play. It is said that binaural beats may take some time to work, so if you don’t feel any immediate effects, don’t get discouraged!
